Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Well I had a great Christmas! We all go around to my Aunty Evelyn's for Christmas dinner and her kids and their kids join us! It's always a loud affair and this year involved Turkey, Presents, a dart gun, a crossbow and a wrestling match...Was one of the quieter years!

So now it's past Christmas I can show you all what I stitched for my brothers Christmas card!!

Courtesy of  Missy over at Dork Stitch She made me patterns for Yugi and Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh! My brother (a 23 year old man) plays the card came and watches the anime. He squealed like a little girl when I gave it to him!

Tiny little progress on ToT. I'm at the point on Pirate Queen when I change over to the second magazine and I have to sit down and take proper care to line it up right.

Gill Aldus (my favorite designer) has a new design.... Anemone, a mermaid. She's a beautiful coral mermaid, Vanessa over at magic monster has done the model on PTP tempest.

How could you resist a face like that??? Well I couldn't!

On PTP crystal Lagoon.

So as new year approaches I have to start thinking about the WIPocalypse. I had an extensive list but now I'm thinking a short list thats actually manageable. So I've decided on Pirate Queen, Morning Fae, Anemone, ToT and Chatelaine deep blue mystery!

Maybe next post I'll show you all pics of my Christmas stash haul and the story of how I blinded myself with my new lamp!

IHSW December

Last IHSW of the year folks! My Word where has the time when? I didn't have too much time to stitch, one of the many evils of working in retail over the holidays! However I did have a little time to work on the Pirate Queen. Also stitched on a couple smalls that I shall post when the receiver gets them!

I'm still loving working on her and don't really want to pick up anything else! In other news my youngest brother Michael has returned from University in Iowa for a month over Christmas! Very glad to have him back ! It's very hard having him so far away on a different continent! With him being back not sure how much stitching I'll get done as I'm busy spending as much time as I can with him!

Yarr!!!! Where's the rum???

Not loads done but enough for me to want to post an update! There's some backstitching to do on her gloves, gun and belt but I'll do that when I finish this section of the pattern!

The belt is unbelievably blingy but I must be spoiling myself with the PTB I've been using because going back to Kreinik was a NIGHTMARE!!!!

Not quite ready to put her away again just yet, every time I pull her out I fall in love with her all over again!

The Zombies are Coming.....

Been a busy person as of late! Have starred in a Zombie movie! My brother and I helped out a friend who makes films! I must say my day as one of the un-dead was one of the most fun I've ever had!

The film is called I am Alive and actually not a film it's a series I'm told! I have learned I can not fall on demand, which is very strange because I fall without prompting all the time!

On set getting my make up done how very glamorous!(Those aren't contacts by the way for some strange reason my eyes show up very light blue with that camera!)

Not sure when they will be showing the first episode but I'm very excited to see it! (Thats one of the directors doing my make up he's very yummy! Was not at all a hardship having him stare me in the eyes and stroke my face all day!)

Not much stitchy news I'm afraid. Did some more of Morning Fae and the backstitch on her face.

I've signed up for Chatelaine Mystery Deep Blue Sea. My first Chatelaine and to get used to what it'll be like I've been working on a couple of mini mandalas! Not much of them done but I'll post pics when I've got something substantial  to show!

Picked up Pirate Queen this week! Enjoying working on her again!

Here's how they stand at the moment

Happy Hermiting Everyone!!

Lest We Forget

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England’s foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

Bunny of death update!

Or as my brother has taken to singing every time he sees me with it Evil Bunny! I'm waiting on him coming up with a dance to go with it! (Yes a 23 year old man singing and dancing to a cross stitch!). I had planned to be finished this by the time I go back to work but as usual I got distracted! However I know I'm close to being finished! I have a full day tomorrow before my Holiday ends to work on it!

However thought turns to the Egyptian Piece and what to stitch on it. My aforementioned brother thinks I should stitch a Yu-Gi-Oh piece! I think (being a giant anime geek)  its the greatest idea ever but I dont think the lady in my RR would appreciate a piece of Japanese anime about an Egyptian Pharaoh playing a children card game!

My distraction had been put aside for the moment so i can work on the bunny unreservedly. I did get a good  portion of the beads done before I put her away!

Although I can't walk past her without running my hand over the beads and cooing So pretty lol!

Trick or Treat!

The beading has begun on this bad boy lol! I have to bead as I go otherwise it's one of my worst nightmares! I'd be tearing my hair out if I had to bead all at once! Especially on a bead heavy pattern like this one!

I'm not too sure of the back stitch on her gloves. It was supposed to be 2 strands but I felt it was just too overpowering!

I'm waiting on PTB coming tomorrow in place of Kreinik. It just does not agree with me!

As you have probably guessed by now I survived the Craft Fair as did my bank balance! As for my haul, actually I didn't get too much! I saw a full kit of Joan Elliott's crescent dragon for only £25. Which I'd have totally paid (even though I would have swapped out the aida for evenweave). However they didn't have any in stock! I went round the fair a couple times wondering why none of the sellers stocked chart only patterns. It seamed silly to me no one had Mira's or Joans books! Then I saw a stall with HAED's and I may have knocked a few people over to get into it and they had Mira's and PR's!!!! However none really really jumped out at me but I did pick up Mira's Crystal Symphony and Lavender and Lace Celtic Autumn.

I love the bead stalls too and found one from spellbound bead co! It was so pretty done up like a little enchanted forest! I picked up a couple of containers of seed beads to substitute for mill hills and a necklace kit! I don't know why I bought the kit I don't know how to make jewellery and I suspect I picked up one of the hardest kits there!!! How and ever I shall have a bash!

How'd that happen???

The stitching voices in my head keep telling me to work on it!!!

Ha ha I may have some explaining to do! Ever been so excited by a pattern when you get you grubby mitts on it you MUST start it right there and then??? That's what happened! I had to go out right after the post had been and go to Hobby Craft to get the threads and beads! I had a voucher due to run out that day and well it HAD to be a sign right???

Fear not work still continues on the bunny of doom but as I'm on holiday from work until next Tuesday there's so many more stitchy hours in the day!!!

Todays agenda: A trip to Glasgow to the ICHF (International Craft and Hobby Fair)! I went last time round back when I was a one project gal lol! I wasn't really sure of what everything was last time but now I'm more stitch savvy coupled with pay day weekend I plan on doing some major damage and not let a Nun push me out the way this time!

So keep your eye on the news for a Dundee woman arrested at a stitch show because it's probably me!

IHSW October!!!

I know I said that by this time this week I'd be either close to or finished the stupid bunny....Well I'm not! Ha ha! I had a good amount of time Sunday for IHSW and worked solely on the bunny for the RR.

I am getting there with it and before this I hadn't picked up a needle for a week! Not because I didn't want to believe me I can't wait to see the back of this bunny, but because I'd injured myself!!! It's always a risk to ten pin bowlers that something goes wrong and you can tear the skin off your thumb, I did but rather than like a normal person and stop I kept going until I couldn't physically get my thumb back in a ball! So stitching was out the window until it healed!

Close up of the flowers. I jumped up to do them because the monotony of the other colours was getting to me! Having never stitched with satin threads I was quite excited, my word the effect is very pretty but for love nor money can I get the thread to sit well! I did eventually figured out to keep it really tight and a little thread heaven works wonders!!!

Hopefully this is it though the final stretch! Have the next piece sitting here waiting on me to work on it. Egyptian theme!!! Something I would actually stitch!!! Maybe I'll stop being a moan on this one lol!!!

Good Times!

Been Spoiling Myself!!

I think its a by-product of the RR but I keep buying stash!!! My sparklies sale fabric came as did my Polstitches fabric of the month club!!

Sparklies sale fabric! Rain on the left (which is a lot lighter than the website picture) Black Dahlia, which I ordered for Lady A but that was before I got the PTP phantom, the other small ones are me trying to find a fabric for Winter Little Fae when I finish Summer still undecided but I love Moonlighting the bottom blue! It might be a little too busy for WLF.

This is Soft Clouds, this months limited fabric from Polstitches! Its lighter than the pic and is PERFECT for PR's Morning Fae so of course I had to order the thread.....

He he how fun are these!!! Witches Boot Scissors from Kelmscott!!! I'm getting into the Halloween spirit!!

I also got the chart for this Prairie Moon design Bone Cheeks. It's so pretty!! Day of the Dead Skull!!! Excited is no the word! It's done in Gloriana Silks but I really can't justify 10 colours at 6 quid each! Birthday money or not, so I trolled the internet converting it to Dinky Dyes silk (2 quid each)! After that mammoth converting task I have since discovered it comes with a DMC alternative.... However too late now.. Onto the second fail with this one, Never heard the postman at the door on Saturday so I missed the delivery and it's a bank Holiday today so the post office where it's waiting for me is closed until tomorrow and I'm working the exact opening hours of the post office tomorrow SIGH!!!!!

Just to prove it's not been all about stash this week here's what I've done of the RR piece! Not as much as I'd planned this week but there's a reason....My best friend Alan planned a HUGE surprise for me! He arranged to meet up for coffee with me on Friday and to my surprise one of my other closest friends that I hadn't seen for 2 years was waiting with him. Of course coffee turned into a catch up with turned into dinner which turned into drinks at his house which turned into going to a fun fair whist fairly intoxicated!!! I was in no fit state to stitch the next morning either!!!

I aim to either be finished this blasted bunny this week or be pretty close to it!!!

RR's really aren't for me!!!

This is what I've learned this week, I'm not supposed to be a deadline stitcher and I'm really not supposed to stitch anything cute and furry unless It's Japanese! That being said I'm powering through with my piece. Please however if I get the notion to do another of these please remind me of what I'm going through right now!!!

Onto happier times and my beautiful non rr defo Jacqui's style Summer Little Fae!!!

Now I've finished with the stupid half stitches on the back of her dress I'm much much happier with how it's looking!!

Look at all the bling  by the way!!

I still have the other wing and her bouquet to do but I'm going to leave them a while as I know when I start her skirt I'm going to get bored!!

First time taking part in the Hermiting and must say I loved it!!

Coming along with Summer Little Fae! Have acquired the other three in the set in my stash somehow... Don't know quite how they got there lol!!

I'm not quite happy with the lattice work on the back of her dress. There was hundreds of half stitches and I kept on getting confused. My stitching looks untidy there but I'm hoping its just me and it'll look ok once the last of the half stitches are in place!

Look who I brought out of hiding!! I worked on her before this weekend and fallen in love with her all over again! She got a wash before I went back to work on her and some of the back stitching has came loose however that was because I was lazy with it in the first place! That will teach me lol!!

So I had every intention to work on the RR this weekend but got side tracked as usual! On an early day at work tomorrow followed by a day off so must knuckle down and get on with it! The theme is somebunny to love and although it's very cute it's not something I would normally stitch which is why I'm having such a hard time focusing on it!

However just have to man up!!!!

Quick Update!

Sorry for the radio silence ladies!!! Been a bit out of sorts lately, my youngest brother Michael has left for the States a couple days ago to attend Clarke University in Iowa. It's strange (and a little devastating) not having him here but I'm unbelievably proud of him for having the guts to cross the pond to follow his dream!!!

On a stitch note I have been stitching a surprise for the lady who organized our RR. Shes getting married in a couple months and all 30 odd of us on the facebook RR are stitching something for her! pics shall follow when I send it to her!!

Yes I caved!!! She was just too pretty!! She's going on that lovely piece of PTP phantom and I've deliberately only bought some of the threads to start.

Next piece of my RR to do next. It's some bunny and the chart I picked has varigated and satin threads!! Fun fun fun!!

Yiotas cross stitch kit review.

So I was asked really nicely to review a kit before I went on my Holidays by the lovely Yiota and well who am I to refuse such a generous offer!

After going through some very lovely designs I settled on a Mucha. As everyone can tell I love to stitch pretty ladies (I really dont know why....) and Mucha's art is full of them! So after sending my selection to Yiota I went off to Finland.

When I arrived this was waiting on me!!!

It came in a do not bend envelope and wasn't squished at all when I got it, that's all been me lol!!

The picture is not too clear on the front but I think its just the fact its a highly detailed picture on a small space.

In my plastic packet there is also......

PRE-BOBBINED DMC baby!!!! Excuse my excitement lol!!! I'm a floss away bag girl purely because I'm lazy so this is awesome!!! All bobbins are clearly marked and pristine.

The provided fabric is 14 count aida, I'm really not an aida girl and I'd prefer an evenweave option but I really don't know if that would be feasible on a business side...

The chart is over two A3 pieces of paper and are the standard symbol chart. The top page looks like a lot of info at once I don't know if its me or if doing it over 4 A4 pages would be better? Also it would be easier to make working copies off of A4 pages. (you should see me trying to make working copies of Mira charts! The girls a work stand and laugh at me)

That could just be my personal preference though!!!

Beautiful Kit, Beautiful design, speedy delivery, great value for a £21.90 kit and a wonderful lady to work with!

Thanks to Yiota for this opportunity.

I'm baaaacccckkkk!!!

I have returned!!! Had an amazing time in Finland but am very glad to be home! I'll post some pics soon!

So I didn't have too much time to stitch but until tomorrow it's Passione Ricamo SAL on the Love 4 Stitch Along board!!!

Her hair and garland have been done and I'm getting on with her wings!

Couldn't resist the blingy star!!! It's so cute!!!!

Get to do some back stitch very soon see if that skin stands out on the fabric more!!

Look what goodies were waiting for me when I came back!!! My PTP Christmas in July stash! First time ordering from PTP and I'm very impressed!!! The green in Lagoon in Crystal Cashel and the blue is Phantom also Cashel! I plan on using Lagoon for Bluebeards princess and Phantom I had no plans for I just fell in love with the colour but now I have it I think it just screams for Lady Alexandra!!!!

So participating in the L4S boards sal's is serving as my rotation just now two birds one stone!!!! PR until tomorrow and then I have free time until the 5th, ooohhh what to stitch!!!!

Friday, 12 August 2011

Update before I leave!!!

So this is it only 2 sleeps to go and I'm off to Lahti Finland!!! Being as unorganized as me I have left no time to stitch until I go so here is where I am with Summer Little Fae!

The rest of my thread should be here tomorrow so I'll get her garland finished!!
My very sexy Q snap cover there lol! Not entirely keen on how her skin is almost the same colour of the fabric though! Think when the back stitch goes in it'll be fine!

Also excuse the writing on my hand it's to remind me to give my friend my copy of Game of Thrones for her to read!

Anyone else a Song of Ice and Fire fan? I'm so crazy about the series I have Winter is Coming tattooed down my spine! Yeah I'm a geek!

Anyone fancy a SAL??? Love4stitching is a Yuku board holding various SAL's for PR, Dark Side, Joan Elliott and many others at different dates of the month! Hope to see you there!!!

I may have a problem...

Hi I'm Jacqui and I have a problem! I have severe startitis!!!

Having just recently discovered Passione Ricamo I fell more than a little bit in love.... This is Summer Little Fae. She was supposed to be my travel project when I go to Finland next week! I have a 10 hour stop over in Heathrow and it automatically translated to stitchy time!

First time using Treasure Braid and I'm really enjoying it! Did my usual, couldn't decide between fabrics had to do a toss, then just a couple stitches!!!

Fabric is Whisper by Polstitches.

Fairy moon R&R is off to the next participant. Not quite finished but I was loosing the will to live on it! In the rush to get it posted didn't take a photo but I will when it comes back to me.

 A little progress on Rhythm
Waiting on the next part of the R&R to get to me! While I am waiting however the first step to solving a problem is to admit you have one and you all will be pleased to know I'm looking into a rotation lol! My cousin Catrina has decided to pick up the needle again and has confiscated my chart folders! Harmless enabling or am I spreading my addiction??? You decide....

I got an award!!!!

Thanks to Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching she gave me a stylish blogger award! It's so unexpected and I never prepared a speech lol!

As such my follower numbers have bumped up! Hello there! Glad to have you!

I play competitive ten pin bowling for the Scottish Team.

My nickname is chicken (due to a dutch woman who couldn't say Jacqueline properly)

My favorite film of all time is Nightmare Before Christmas (my brother and I book a days holiday every year to watch it on the TV even though I have three different DVD versions)

I believe Eyeliner is an acceptable religion

I was born with my hips dislocated and to this day I can turn my feet back wards (creepy but the greatest party trick ever!)

Quick Fairy Moon update for you all!

Excuse the picture quality it was taken on my I Phone. Don't know what Mum has done with the big camera!.

Notice how I've done all I can to avoid that big purple bit lol! I need to man up and get on with it really!

I've miscounted a row of her hair too kinda leaving that till last!

No update on Rhythm I've given her to my brother Kevin to keep until I get this done. Kevin is also keeping me motivated by me setting goals and Kevin is threatening me with dead legs and such if I don't keep to him! Aren't Siblings wonderful lol!!

Fabbie update!

Thanks everyone for the kind comments on Fairy Moon and Rhythm! Yeah I'm a lot in love with my fabbie pick for Rhythm too! For everyone who is curious its called Winter Skies from Sparklies (Which has an upcoming sale by the way!) Mine is 28ct Cashel opalescent! Love her fabric as it's so dramatic!

And for everyone who is wondering about Fairy Moon fabbie its 32ct luguna in Big Bang from the fabulous Polstitches!

Thanks again (off for more Fairy Moon)

Monday, 18 July 2011

I've been a bad blogger (and stitcher)

Yeah life happened lol!!! Been nuts around here! Work keeps giving me rotten shifts that leave no time for stitching or anything else! That and we have builders in for an extension it's all been very exhausting!!

I'm participating in a round robin. 100x100 stitches. My theme is fairies and am stitching Mira's Fairy moon although I find I am struggling with her! So much purple!!!! I'm fond of purple but not this much! However deadline for my piece is 1st August so I must power through!

When I get the next piece the theme is cats...

Don't know what you mean... I never started something new.....

Ha ha Rhythm a Nora Muse. The only one of the Muse's that I like! Purple I may not be fond of but blue I am!!! She was ment to be my reward when I finished Fairy moon but there's something about her I can't resist!

Small Project finish, some progress AND a new baby cousin!!!

Hey all!!! Been a bit hectic this week!!!

First a small finish!

Nora Corbett's Orchid Pixie! I know its only the face but all will become clear!
I used her face to customize my free notebook from Cross Stitch Crazy this month!

I changed the beads and Kreinik I had in my stash and I'm unbelievably proud of the finished result!!

I have begun the beading for Ghost Story!! I'm a nightmare for beads and have to do it as I go otherwise it would never get it done!

Finished Summer Fairy's hair!!!

And the most exciting news!!! My cousin Catrina had her baby!!! Here is Aimee Benedetta Evelyn (try saying that drunk!) She is absolutely beautiful!!!

So now I have to get back working on the Runaway! I stopped as Catrina was going through a really difficult time with the pregnancy and I didn't want to jinx anything!!!
This is Aimee with her big brother Blair! Who decided today he didn't want a little sister and was going to but her in a bin!!!

Lol he'll come around! How could anyone not love her?

This weeks plan! Runaway!!!!
